How the Murder Crumbles (A Cookie Shop Mystery) by Debra Sennefelder
About How the Murder Crumbles
Debra Sennefelder whips up cookies and crime in a delicious new cozy series, perfect for fans of Joanne Fluke and Peg Cochran.
Wingate, Connecticut, is famed as one of the top ten shopping destinations in the state, and home to Mallory Monroe’s beloved Cookie Shop — a place where patrons are greeted with the heavenly aroma of freshly baked cookies that are as beautifully decorated as they are insanely delicious.
But things aren’t going so smoothly for Mallory. Her two employees are a disaster in the kitchen, she catches her boyfriend with another woman, and she’s seen having a fierce argument with food blogger Beatrice Wright, who accuses Mallory of stealing her cookie recipe. Then Beatrice turns up dead in her kitchen, flour outlining her body and a bloodied marble rolling pin nearby. Mallory immediately becomes suspect number one, her sales plummet, and she desperately tries to clear her name — but that’s not the only murder the killer is baking up.
Debra Sennefelder has cooked up a perfect recipe — endearing characters, a picture-perfect evocation of small-town life, and a quaint sweets shop. And just when things get a little too comfy, there’s always a murder or two for good measure.

About the Author Interview
When did you catch the writing bug? I’ve written stories since childhood. So, the writing bug got me early.
Besides Author, what other job titles have you held? I’ve been an emergency medical technician, a buyer’s assistant in retail and I worked in customer service.
When you’re not working, what fills your time? I love to read and bake. We have a Shih Tzu, so I love taking her for walks and she loves playtime.
If your life were made into a movie, is it a comedy or drama? Who plays you? I guess it would be a mix of comedy and drama, just like life. I have no idea would play me in the movie.
What is your favorite childhood memory? There are so many but one that comes to mind are the long stretches of summer hanging out with my friends at the pool and then going to the pizza place for lunch.
What advice would you give to your younger self? I would tell her to believe in herself and never give up on her dreams.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you? Gosh, embarrassing things happen all the time because life happens and I haven’t kept track so I can’t pinpoint a most embarrassing situation. When an incident happens, I own it, I find the humor in it and move on.
What is your greatest achievement? Writing my first manuscript because it set me up for publishing success.
What makes you laugh? Our dog, Connie. She’s quite a character.
What is your greatest extravagance? Handbags.
What are your pet peeves? Indecisiveness, whistling and tardiness.
Tell us something about yourself that no one else knows. I’d love to share a fun fact that few people know. When I worked at Macy’s I participated in the Thanksgiving Day Parade. I was a dancing turkey. It was so much fun.
What is always in your fridge? Eggs, butter, milk and bottled water.
What is your most treasured possession? My engagement and wedding rings.
What is your favorite movie? TV show? My favorite movie is The Devil Wears Prada. My favorite television show is Law and Order SVU.
What is your favorite song, and why? Taylor Dayne’s I Will Always Love You. It was our wedding song.
What did you eat for breakfast? Did you make it yourself? I made scrambled eggs with a slice of multi-grain toast.
Describe your perfect day. A perfect day would include autumn-like weather, no ringing phones and a long midday walk.
