A Dish Best Served Cold by Rosie Genova | Blog Tour with Review and Giveaway

The author of Murder and Marinara is back with another Italian Kitchen Mystery!

The Blurb

The national bestselling author of The Wedding Soup Murder returns to the Jersey Shore where a killer is stirring up trouble during a hurricane…

At the Casa Lido, the end of summer means a party, and hit whodunit writer Victoria “Vic” Rienzi and her family are cooking like crazy for the restaurant’s seventieth anniversary celebration. As they chop onions and garlic, old family friend Pete Petrocelli stops by, saying he knows something that would make for a good mystery novel. Curious, Vic asks Nonna to elaborate on Pete’s claim and learns of a relative who mysteriously disappeared back in Italy…

The night of the party brings a crowd — and a full throttle hurricane. When the storm finally passes, everyone thinks they’re in the clear — until the first casualty is found, and it’s Pete. Remembering his visit, Vic isn’t certain Pete’s death was an accident and decides to dig deeper into his story. What she finds is meatier than Nonna’s sauce…

The Review

I just read an amazing book recently, y'all — A Dish Best Served Cold by Rosie Genova. Let me tell you a little about it.

I am very pleased to be a part of the blog tour. I was a participant in the Cover Reveal for A Dish Best Served Cold, and have been eagerly awaiting its release.

A Dish Best Served Cold is the third book in a great cozy culinary mystery series set at the Jersey Shore, the Italian Kitchen Mysteries. Since I'd never been to the Jersey Shore, I thought I should get familiar with the landscape first, via Author Rosie Genova's Murder and Marinara (book one four stars!) and The Wedding Soup Murder (book two four stars!). These books gave me a better intro to the recurring characters, and revealed the background / details of some multi-book plot lines — plus, they're great reads, so I enjoyed my trips!

A Dish Best Served Cold is a really fun romp on the Jersey Shore. The murder mystery [Who killed Stinky Pete?] is really intriguing. I was totally baffled about whodunit until the big reveal. I love the characters especially Victoria, Sofia, Danny, and Cal because Author Rosie Genova makes them seem so real and so likeable. The Jersey shore setting, lovingly depicted by Jersey girl Rosie Genova, virtually becomes another character in her series — as does the weather, in A Dish Best Served Cold. There were several ongoing plot lines from previous book(s) that were resolved in A Dish Best Served Cold, and most satisfactorily, I might add. I love the ending!! I had a smile on my face [and tears in my eyes] because I wasn't the only one smiling as our story concludes. "Who else?" you may be asking. READ THE BOOK!

If you're a beach lover, and especially if you're an aficionado of Italian cuisine, you'll love this book (and the Italian Kitchen series) with the delicious recipes, busy kitchen, wonderful characters, and of course the Jersey Shore and Boardwalk! I highly recommend A Dish Best Served Cold by Rosie Genova, and grant it our highest rating of Five Kitties.
